Final Interview – MIRACULOUSNYNE

August 2015… As you can see, I tried another shot with Qatar and also went for the Emirates open day. Which I don’t succeeded in both of them. Finally, by the end of the month I went for the recruitment day of SIA. I will tell all the process that I had through with SIA.

1st Stage. Walk in Interview and Assessment Day. August 29th 2015.

I prepared myself a day before, but in the morning I almost changed my mind. Then again I thought it would be better if I still go to try this SIA thing, even though I heard them all said that they are really strict in choosing their candidates. Things like “They only wanted the girls with flawless skin,” or “They always picked girls with model-like figure,” or “They only prepared ONE size of sarong kabaya for their kabaya round.” Well… they’re all wrong. Thank God they’re wrong. So, I went to their walk in interview at Slipi, Jakarta. Arrived by 9 AM sharp and already the entire area of that floor were crowded. I took the number to wait on the queue line. When my turn is up, I submitted my CV along with completed application form, photos, birth certificate, and education certificate.

The Measuring Height and Weight. They will measure us and count our BMI, I assume their normal BMI range is between 19-22 (as in general the normal BMI range is 18.5-24.9). So, I passed this round. Yeay! I’m not fat.
The Self Introduction. On this round we were divided by small groups, 7 person each. All 7 of us entered the interview room and asked to introduce ourselves in less than a minute. In this part you are required to tell them about yourself in a very humble way. And as my experience they never pass the person who said “I can speak in 5 different languages,” or “I really love travel and really enjoy serving people, that’s why I want to join Singapore Airlines.” Please guys, there will come the time for them to ask you about this hospitality and joining SIA thing. And of course, JUST BE YOURSELF. Out of 7 people in my group, only 2 passed, including me. Yeay again!
The English Test (Written). They held the English test after the lunch break. Gave us about 4 sets of different question sheets. So we can’t cheat on this test. And by that time, I thought the English were pretty hard (scale 1 to 10 I can put them in 8th place). Again, I passed. Good God, that was tough!
The Interview. So, this one is not only the interview, but also the Passage Reading and Skin Check (first one, and not really a serious one). Now they divided us again into smaller groups, 3 person each. The interviewers are still same as the 2nd round of today, they basically just asked few random questions. After that they asked me to read a passage about cabin announcement. In this part you just have to read it in a proper volume and proper pace. Then they asked me to show my lower arms, legs, and checked my face thoroughly. Too bad 2 of my group mates didn’t make it. So, yes, I passed.

I don’t know how many passed that 1st stage, because after each group finished they informed us immediately what to do. So we don’t have to sit and wait again. They told me to wait 2 months for the Final Interview, the exact date, time, and place will be informed by email.

2nd Stage. Final Interview. October 17th 2015.

Received an email from SQ Centre on October 2nd. Horay! The Final Interview invitation came. It was held on day 17th of the month, at Shangri-La Hotel. There are 30 person, each are divided into several time slots, mine is at 08.15 AM. That day I required to bring the ORIGINAL and COPY of Passport, Birth Certificate, Education Certificate, Updated CV, and a piece of Passport-Sized Photo. This day was also divided into few different rounds, as I will mention below:

The Final Interview. The holly final interview itself, on this part the interviewers were actually the BOD of SIA. Yes, it was really a nerve wrecking part to know. But hey, don’t worry, they were all nice. Basically, there will be 3 BODs giving you questions. These questions were not hard, because it will be about yourself (again) and that time I was mostly asked about my job. There were also other question such “If I have few hours in Jakarta where would you take me?” And because I really REALLY LOVE MUSEUM, so I answered “The museum!” Then I just explained the reason. So relieved that I passed.
The Kabaya Round. Yes, you get to try the famous SARONG KABAYA. You may feel what it feels like to be one of those Singapore Girl. In this part of the stage they told me to go to the changing room where they already prepared the sarong kabaya in few different size, and gave us 5 minutes to look for the one that most fit in my body. While you’re at the changing room, please DO NOT MAKE A MESS, always tidy up either your own outfit or the kabayas. After wearing the most fitted uniform I had to walk back and forth as if I’m a catwalk model lol. Then they measure your weight and height again, with additional of arm reach test.
The Skin Check. With the sarong kabaya still on my body (fits perfectly like hell), they done the skin check. The aunty looks very detail and conscientious. Checked my face, teeth, back, lower arms, and lower legs. And then the aunty told me to whiten my teeth and also wax my arms (considering that I am pretty hairy *sob*). But this only need to be done if I’m successful to joining SIA.

After I passed all these rounds I need to complete another form, it’s like a pre-joining form, and another one of medical history form for them to make the referral letter for medical check up.

3rd Stage. Medical Check Up.

They gave me 10 days to pick, from October 19th-29th, because we aren’t allowed to have the check up done while on period. I went and had examine by 27th. The medical check up is consisted of Blood Test, Urine Test, Eye Test, Chest X-Ray, and Doctor’s Examination (Mouth, Ears, Breast Lumps, Tremors, Flat-Footed check, and of course my medical history). I was sooo nervous that the doctor almost stated that I have tremors, but it turned out that I was just hungry lol.

The Emails’ Waiting Game

By morning of November 19th I received email that I passed the medical and required to send them my scanned passport in pdf format. This is for the Work Pass (S Pass) application. I sent it right away!

I waited, waited, and waited…

Then the email came, January 21st by lunch time. I was really excited that I cried while eating nasi goreng in my office and all my colleagues watching lol. My Work Pass approved, I will depart by February 29th. But I wasn’t relieved until I passes the medical check up in Singapore.

Departed to Singapore

Finally, I arrived in Singapore on February 29th. And done the medical check up at the Fullerton Ocean Financial Centre the day after. After the medical I was obliged to report to the SIA Training Centre at Upper Changi Road. It was a very rush day, from downtown to suburbs. Although Singapore is small, but still it was very tiring.

But after 3 days of my medical check up, they informed me that I was unfit to join SIA. I was really shocked. Like I wanted to die that instance (figuratively). But, hey! It was just not my time. Perhaps sooner or later I will be joining other airlines company.

Just. Be. Patient.

It’s no secret anymore, that since high school one of my life goals is to be a cabin crew. Cheesy?! Yes! So, the plan is… If I have a lot of money I would be a pilot. But if not, a flight attendant shall do. Still I would prefer pilot more, combat aircraft preferred. Hahaha.

To accomplish this mission I had gone through so many open day recruitment and the invitation-only recruitment as well. Without any further courtesy, I will share about the timeline of my come and go in this field of work (/lifestyle).

As you can see, the total for now is 9 times. Hopefully I can finally meet my destined airlines… By soonest. Can’t really wait to fly. Even after being ditched by SIA :’) still got the fervor.
